Jo Castleton and Jake McDaid star in our thrilling production of Vincent River by Philip Ridley
“Exceptional”
Vincent River is striking a chord with our Brussels audience. With a gripping plot, fast-paced dialogue, and stunning acting, this is a production you don’t want to miss. But don’t take our word for it, have a listen yourself to what our audiences are saying:
Vincent River is an inter-generational encounter between two strangers, connected by the murder of a young man called Vincent River. For 90 minutes, the two characters reveal secrets about the night of the murder, as the audience tries to figure out where the ultimate truth lies.
Vincent River stars Jo Castleton, who has worked extensively for the UK’s National Theatre, and Jake McDaid of the David Glass Ensemble. The play is directed by award-winning director, Robert Chevara.
“Expertly-Crafted Story-telling”
Vincent River runs on Wednesdays to Sundays until 13 November so there is still time to come and experience this truly special theatrical event. There are cheaper tickets available at our 5pm performances.
Vincent River is part of The Bridge Theatre’s pilot season. Through this, we hope to demonstrate that there is the demand for a permanent, professional English-language theatre here in Brussels.
We have plenty more tickets available for the remainder of the run. Please help us to promote English-language theatre in Brussels by sharing this email with all of your friends and colleagues.
Word of mouth is so important to new theatres like ours. If you’ve enjoyed your visit and could spare a minute to make a recommendation, we would really appreciate it!
Being LGBTI+ in Brussels
Vincent River explores homophobia in contemporary East London. But what is it like to be a person identifying as LGBTI+ in today’s Brussels? We have organised a series of informal post-show discussions to explore exactly this issue!
Our post-show sessions take place straight after the 8pm performance and last for a maximum of 30 minutes. Our special guests will give their perspective on LGBTI+ issues and react to the play itself. There will also be a chance to ask questions.
The line up so far:
Thursday 28 October: Some brave local teenagers will give their perspective on being young and LGBTI+ in Brussels today.
Thursday 4 November: Joris Wagemakers, a Belgian Ixelles resident active in raising awareness of issues faced by LGBTI+ persons, will give a gay male perspective on LGBTI+ support initiatives in Ixelles and across Brussels.
Wednesday 10 November: Rachael Parker, a British trans-woman who has been resident in Belgium for decades, will give a trans perspective on the play, on life in Brussels and on the support available to trans people in Belgium.
Please do join us for these special sessions.
Our feast of musical theatre
On Sunday 14 November, our community cast will perform for you a compilation show of musical theatre songs. This show has been compiled by Music Theater International and is being performed across the world on this one weekend in November. It truly is a Global Celebration of Local Theatre.
Featuring songs from shows such as Beauty and the Beast, Mary Poppins, Hairspray, and Rent, this show is sure to please all tastes. With just over two weeks to go, there is no better time to book your tickets for this uplifting piece of theatre, taking place at the Theatre du Vaudeville.
