Get Active this April
The second term of our Weekend Workshops is about to start and you can join in!
Weekend Workshops: Next Term Starts 24 April
We still have a few places left for both adults and young people (aged 13-18) for the spring term of our Weekend Workshops. Sign up now to before places run out!
Our Weekend Workshops are three hours of acting, singing and dancing on a Sunday mornings led by our three lovely tutors: Andrew (singer at La Monnaie), Heidi (previously ran a dance school), and Billy (actor and improvisor).
Our aim is to give you the opportunity to express yourself artistically in a safe environment. Our Weekend Workshops are great for people with limited or no experience in the three disciplines. Perhaps, for example, you have done some acting, but have never been brave enough to sing and dance. Then this is for you!
Here is what Carmen, one of our winter term participants, says:
“What I love about The Bridge Theatre’s Weekend workshops is the opportunity to try something completely new in a fun and safe environment, with absolutely no judgement. For a perfectionist like me, learning something from scratch can be pretty intimidating – feeling like you have to to get it right often robs you of the joy that comes with learning a new skill. Because there are no set expectations, the Workshops are a great way to tap into your creativity, boost your self-expression and just genuinely have a good time giving something a go. As the weeks have gone by, I have not only met an amazing, supportive group of people, I have also surprised myself by doing things I would have never dreamt of, like actually volunteering to sing a solo line!” - Carmen, freelance interpreter
Our spring term runs for ten weeks from 24 April until 26 June and takes place in Studio Empain, Rue de la Presse 9, from 11am to 2pm on Sunday mornings. The term runs for ten weeks and is priced at €270.
What are you waiting for?
Help with a research project
Joy Danie van der Walle, a student from The Netherlands, is using The Bridge Theatre as a case study for her graduation project. Using desk and field research she is working on a product that could help The Bridge Theatre bring together foreigners and locals in Brussels through our cultural programming.
She now needs your help!
Joy is looking for volunteers who are willing to be interviewed about the four ideas she currently has. It will only take 30 minutes and will be of great help to her research.
If you are willing to get involved, please get in contact with Joy directly to arrange a Zoom call: 615353@student.inholland.nl.
Thank you!
Invest in a new home for The Bridge Theatre
We are incredibly excited to share with our newsletter readers that we are on the cusp of securing a first venue of our own. This presents a major step forward in the life of The Bridge Theatre and will enable us to produce further fantastic productions, such as Vincent River, as well as continue our popular Workshops.
Nevertheless, creating a theatre from nothing requires high upfront costs: we need to acquire technical equipment, we need to pay rent and bills, and we need to undertake some light renovation works. And we need to do this before we can present the shows that we have planned for you and generate our ticket revenues.
This is an enormous challenge. But, never fear: you can help!
In an uncertain world, it can be difficult to know where to put your savings in a place that will guarantee a steady return. Interest rates are low, the stock market is volatile, and the property market in Brussels is stagnant. This is where the proxi loan comes in!
A proxi loan enables The Bridge Theatre to gain some much needed financing, while giving you a gross rate of up to 1.5% plus an annual tax advantage (of 4% in the first three years) and a one-time tax credit of 30%. A proxi loan can last either 5 or 8 years and is a scheme that is put in place by the Brussels-Capital Region.
It’s win-win for both us and you!
So if you want to put your money to productive use, send us an introductory email to start the conversation: finances@thebridge.brussels.
Thank you.
