New Season, New Space
We are incredibly excited to announce that as from September, all of our Workshops will be taking place at our brand new space, The Bridge Theatre Studio.
The Bridge Theatre Studio is a luminous and spacious venue in the heart of St Gilles, located just five minutes walk from Porte de Hal and Parvis at Chaussee de Forest 83.
The Studio will enable us to centralise many of our activities and gives you the ideal space to unlock your creativity. Beyond workshops, having the space will enable us to have a suitable and permanent rehearsal space for our productions, to collaborate with other artists in creative processes, and even to host our popular immersive role play training for organisations.
We can’t wait to let you have a look – you can be one of the first to see the space at our Workshops Open Evening on Monday 9 September, during which you can find out more about our Workshops. More details to be announced soon.
Collaborative Playmaking Masterclass
We are delighted to be able to offer you a day-long masterclass in Devising and Collaborative Playmaking, led by a Dr Brian Rhinehart, Professor of Directing at The Actor Studio Drama School, New York.
There are two opportunities to take part in this masterclass: Sunday 8 September, 10.00 – 16.00 or Thursday 12 September, 10.00 - 17.00.
Using an approach to collaborative storytelling known as Trackwork Devising, you will override the brain’s instinctual predilection for unoriginal choices and force it to create something singular and new. You will do this by engaging it simultaneously with disparate forms, ideas, concepts, texts, songs, movement, etc., and depriving it of the use of reason and logic. By forcing the brain of each participant to combine multiple forms, actions and events into a short performance in a very limited amount of time, we can create completely unique and original works of art.
Workshops 2.0
Workshops are part of the DNA of The Bridge Theatre. We believe in enabling all people the opportunity to experience the benefits of active engagement with the performing arts. As we have grown and found new spaces, so too have our Workshops series, which are only increasing in popularity.
As from September, our workshops will be evolving again. Based on the feedback that you have given us, either in-person or via our feedback forms or our consultation process, we have redesigned our Workshops to give you greater differentiation of levels, more chances to progress, and more chances for performance.
You will find a run down of the different workshops that will be on offer below. Registration will open in a couple of weeks!
