…and the Most Audacious New Project of 2021 is…
We have entered the competition of the tourist agency of Brussels, Visit.Brussels to be crowned the most Audacious New Project 2021. Out of the seven categories of this year’s awards, Audacious New Project is certainly the most crowded and we face some stiff competition from excellent fellow contestants such as the Gare Maritime Food Market, StamEuropa, and The Nine. Nevertheless, we truly believe The Bridge Theatre is sufficiently audacious to get through the public voting round.
Do you like what we have done so far? Want to see more of it in the future?
We need your help! You can support us by voting for The Bridge Theatre in this prestigious competition! Winning the Visit.Brussels awards this year would help us immensely to raise the profile of The Bridge Theatre as we continue down the path towards a permanent home of professional English-language theatre here in the Capital of Europe. More importantly, it would be yet another signal from the public that The Bridge Theatre is fulfilling a need that has long existed in Brussels.
Another Month, Another Workshop
Our ACT Workshops kicked off this Monday; 20 weeks of drama classes taught by a diverse and international set of experienced theatre professionals who are based here in Brussels.
On Monday, 21 participants received a masterclass in voice techniques from Brussels-based actor, Jonathon Sawdon. During the Workshop, participants focused on how to produce clear speech in large spaces without hurting the voice; a tremendously useful skill for all jobs, not just for those going on stage.
Next Monday, participants will uncover what lies behind the techniques of the Russian-American theatre practitioner, Michael Chekhov, in a masterclass led by Desislava Krsteva.

Poirot endorses The Bridge Theatre!
We are absolutely delighted to announce that the British actor, Sir David Suchet CBE, has voiced his support for establishing an English-language theatre here in Brussels. Sir David, best known internationally for playing Hercule Poirot, was recently performing in London’s West End. He sent us the following message from there.
I endorse, wholeheartedly, the concept of THE BRIDGE THEATRE – “connecting through culture”. The productions will be mounted in English and as such will have the greatest possibility of “bridging” and bringing together different cultures, politics, and inclusive social awareness.
- Sir David Suchet CBE
We are honoured and humbled to have the support of Sir David, who instinctively understood the core of the mission of The Bridge Theatre: using English to connect the diversity of Brussels through culture.
